Floral Dress in the 20th Century

Introduction

The website is intended to offer users virtual access to collections of floral printed dresses in the UK. The garments included on the site are all exhibited in the ‘Pick of the Bunch’ exhibition at the Fashion Museum 17 July - 27 August 2007 and offer a detailed view of six with other exhibits outlined in photographic form. The six case studies include an object analysis (description) of each garment, the socio-historical context from which each dress emanates, key designers of the time, new fabric technology, themes for discussion, bibliography, resources of where similar garments can be located, in addition to patterns and recipes to enable the user to recreate garments at home.
